Process, Inspection and Commission/Fee Schedule

Basically, it happens like this. If you are looking for a horse, contact me either through my web site, by telephone or by meeting in person. You may fill out the initial questionnaire on-line or bring it with you when we meet. I will ask you many questions, not only about your personal history with horses, but also about your dreams and future goals concerning horses. There will be the usual questions about what type of riding you plan to do and what breed or type of horse are you interested in, but there will also be some questions that, at first, may not seem applicable to my helping you find that perfect horse. However, as we progress, you'll see the relevance of these questions and understand there is a reason for every question I may ask. Anything we discuss or put in writing is information privy only to you and myself.

The first consultation will be free of charge - I usually go with the client the first time (no charge) to see the horse they are interested in. After that, the fee schedule for services performed is as follows:

  1. Inspection of possible matches - There are many people who wish to find themselves a horse but literally do not have the time. This is where I can help. Once we have decided upon the most suitable type of horse for you, I will start my search, using personal connections, newspapers, magazines, stables, tack shops and the internet. When I find a possible match, I'll contact you and, if you agree to it, I will go and inspect the horse for conformation or health issues and also form an opinion on whether this may be a good personality match for you. I often recommend a vet check, for obvious reasons. (I am not a vet!) I will take pictures as well and report back to you. The fee for this is $40.00 per inspection, plus any expenses incurred such as gas or overnight accommodations. The next step is to go with you to meet the horse and see how the two of you get along. We can combine these two steps if you like, saving you an extra day’s fee. If you would prefer to meet the horse on your own, that is of course your privilege.
  2. Commission -There is a 5% commission fee to be paid by the owner of the horse.

That is my fee schedule in a nut shell. Please feel free to contact me for any further clarification.
